2. Since Americans (and people all around the world) are eating out more, new restaurants have been opened up to catch the rising demand. Middleby Corp. is benefiting from this trend. Middleby is the leader in sales of innovative, high-quality, and energy-efficient ovens to restaurant chains.

3. In view of the rising demand for petroleum which raises the old price, Unit Corp., a contract driller operating primarily in Oklahoma and Texas, is perfectly situated for sustained growth.

4. The writer expects that health-care providers will adopt the use of electronic medical records to keep patients' information. Hence, Quality Systems, which has the leading software package for electronic medical record keeping, will be the spotlight.

5. Statistics show that the population of US will have increased by 50% by 2050 and the society will be a much older one. This infers that there will be major construction, particularly of second homes, in the Southern states. The beneficiary will be MDC Holdings, a homebuilder focusing on states like Arizona, Texas, and California.

6. Alternative sports have become more popular among Americans. Also, the number of girls participating in all forms of sport is radically higher than it was 40 years ago. This increases the demand for apprarel and shoes for outdoor enthusiasts, which in turn, benefits Volcom, the purveyor of apparel and shoes.

Although I've been receiving Fortune magazines for about a year, I haven't spent much time on reading them honestly. Surprisingly, I spent several minutes on reading its Special Investor's Issue (dated June 25, 2007) today. This isssue is quite interesting and worth reading as it provides advice on how to retire rich and young, what good stocks to invest in and retirement tips.

 

I just read the section about the 6 trends to bank on. It discussed the 6 supertrends in the US and the 6 superstocks Tom Gardner expects to squash the market. Here's the summary:

1. Home Entertainment

As lots and lots of US families are transforming their homes into home theatres or cinemas, spending in consumer electronics devices was high recently. It is expected that Dolby Laboratories will be benefited from this. The writer mentioned that Dolby's balance sheet sparkled and demand for its innovations should drive growth rates in excess of 20% per year. He thinks the stock will more than double over the next five years.

I think I have gone through so much over the past year especially when I have changed my job more frequently and experienced ups and downs. Working culture to me is so important indeed. I won't feel a bit happy if I work in an environment I don't like even if I have good pay. However, sometimes you won't be able to know the culture before you really join the company. I just hope that I will be able to get into a place I really like and have acceptable pay. That's all I want.

I realized that I haven't updated my blog for a long time already. You know Leo Koo's songs are quite "hit" these days. I just feel like posting one of his songs in his latest album. Some sentences in the lyrics of this song are quite meaningful. The melody of the song is not bad too.

I guess I am selfish when you ask me whether I wanna die before or after my love dies. I'd probably choose to die before him as I don't think I can tolerate the life without him if he dies earlier than me. Maybe when I get older I will be able to accept it...

 

 

 

Just dunno why I suddenly had mood to work today. I haven't experienced this for a long time already. Although there are still piles of work waiting for me, I'm glad that I had some mood to work today and some job tasks had been finished finally.

 

Sometimes I just wonder whether I will be very enthusiastic towards my job if the job is really something I like. I really hope that I will be able to find a job I love in 2006. I truly believe that there must be a job I love in this world and I'm gonna look for and get it!
